T-Fiber aims to connect every household, government institution, and private enterprise across Telangana through optical fiber, delivering high-speed internet connectivity and enabling inclusive digital growth.

The Government of Telangana is taking significant strides in leveraging broadband infrastructure under the BharatNet project. In this context, the State has initiated the T-Fiber Project to extend broadband connectivity right up to the household level, ensuring every citizen reaps the benefits of the digital revolution. A dedicated Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Telangana Fiber Grid Corporation Ltd., has been established to lead the rollout of optic fiber and network infrastructure across the state.

T-Fiber envisions delivering Fiber-to-the-Home/Enterprise (FTTH/FTTE) connectivity to over 83 lakh+ households and 1 lakh+ public and private enterprises, government offices, and institutions across Telangana. The network will span 10 Zones (33 Districts), 589 Mandals, 8,778 Gram Panchayats, and 10,128 Villages, deploying an end-to-end robust fiber infrastructure up to the last mile.

To optimize resources, T-Fiber will leverage infrastructure such as RoW (Right of Way), trenching, and ducting created under the prestigious Mission Bhagiratha program. Optical Fiber Cables are being deployed along the mapped water pipeline routes, allowing faster and cost-effective implementation.

A layered network topology has been designed to achieve high-quality service delivery. The T-Fiber network will support speeds of 400–500 Mbps for households and 20 Mbps to 1 Gbps for institutions and enterprises, based on demand and service requirements.

Support from Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN)

The progress of the T-Fiber project has been significantly supported by the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN), formerly USOF(Universal Service Obligation Fund). DBN, under the Ministry of Communications, Government of India, has been instrumental in advancing fiber connectivity across India. Telangana’s State-Led Model of BharatNet is actively aligned with DBN’s objectives of universal broadband coverage.

Through its technical, financial and policy-level support, DBN has facilitated critical project approvals, monitoring of service level agreements (SLAs), and coordination for ROW and forest clearances. As per recent Union Budget announcements and DBN communications, broadband will be extended to all Government Secondary Schools and Primary Health Centres, further expanding the scope and impact of the T-Fiber initiative. DBN continues to work closely with the Telangana Government to achieve timely project delivery and effective network utilization.

Economic and Social Impact

This robust digital backbone is poised to drive multiple socio-economic benefits including:

Employment generation, particularly in rural areas

Boost to IT exports and local digital enterprisesDigital enablement of governance, health, and education

Seamless delivery of government services via online platforms

With internet becoming the primary medium of citizen-government interaction, T-Fiber, backed by DBN and in synergy with departments like ITE&C, RWS&S, and key central agencies, is set to redefine connectivity and empowerment in Telangana.
