HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has decided to establish T-Fiber as a private limited company under the Companies Act 2013.
T-Fiber, also known as Telangana Fiber Grid Project, is the implementing agency of the KCR-government’s ambitious project of extending reliable high-speed broadband connectivity to every household in the state.
Cisco and Nokia have already evinced interest to participate in the project. The duct for the fiber grid project is presently being laid simultaneously along with Mission Bhagiratha pipelines by Rural Water Supply (RWS) department to avoid repeat digging.
The state government has nominated IT principal secretary Jayesh Ranjan, rural water supply engineering-in-chief Surender Reddy and IT (Electronics) director K Sujai as the first of the directors of the special purpose vehicle, T-Fiber. This team will devise strategies to set up initial phase of the facility.
Officials said that in addition to the Central and state government stakes, even rural water supply will have stakes in this company. The Central government has already agreed to partly-finance the project under its Bharatnet programme.
